WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature for its Android app that will enhance user privacy during video calls. This feature will allow users to disable their camera before answering an incoming video call, preventing the automatic activation of the front camera upon accepting the call. Currently, users can only turn off their video feed after answering a call.

The feature was discovered in WhatsApp's beta version 2.25.7.3 for Android, following an APK teardown. When an incoming video call is received, users will see a "Turn off your video" option. Selecting this option allows the call to proceed in voice-only mode, and users can choose to enable the camera during the call if desired.

This enhancement aligns WhatsApp with other video-conferencing platforms like Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, which offer similar functionalities. While the feature is currently being tested, there is no official release date for its public rollout
