Powering Bihar’s Villages: Ghar Ghar Solar Brings Light Beyond the Grid

For thousands of families in rural Bihar, the dream of reliable electricity seemed distant. Frequent outages, low voltage, and incomplete connections left households struggling with limited hours of power. Ghar Ghar Solar is changing this reality by bringing rooftop solar systems, backed by the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, to homes beyond the reliable reach of the grid.

Under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, households receive ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, ₹18,000 per kW for the next 1 kW, with a maximum subsidy of ₹78,000. This effectively equals 60% of benchmark cost up to 2 kW and 40% for the additional 1 kW, capped at 3 kW.

The transformation is immediate. Families now power lights, fans, televisions, and small appliances throughout the day without worrying about voltage drops or surprise outages. Farmers use solar energy for water pumps and small machinery, boosting productivity without paying rising diesel costs.

The model is straightforward: assess the roof, design the system, secure subsidies, and install high-quality panels and inverters that last for decades. With rural-focused outreach, Ghar Ghar Solar ensures that even remote homes navigate the paperwork and approvals smoothly.

This push for decentralized energy doesn’t just help households; it strengthens entire communities. More powered homes mean more evening study time for children, more business hours for shopkeepers, and better quality of life across villages.
